STORY: "I bought this rutilated quartz in 2018 at the Tucson Gem Show. I carved this piece around the year 2019, attempting to integrate it into my 'PROSTHESIS' collection. It is part of a range of small-format pieces that I had put on hold, waiting for them to be part of something larger. After the consolidation of the HUELLAS Y SOMBRAS project, I immediately placed this carved quartz in it. However, a few months ago, after a plane trip with 2 friends, I decided that some rutilated quartz pieces that I had exhibited in my furniture display cabinet ‘CABINA’ should become cabins for a new collection around air, planes, flights, birds,…

This sculpture contains reproductions of the original form of the quartz in positive and negative, repeatedly, placing it in the core of the artist’s collection HUELLAS Y SOMBRAS. At the same time, it marks the first step of the new collection whose name is not yet fully defined...

This piece was completed between October and December of 2023. All parts were carved and assembled by the artist. The marble polishing was done by artisan Narcizo Neri Aragón, and the wood and brass polishing by artisan Angel Rivera Amaro. The quartz polishing, a few years ago, was done by Elvira ….. [second name missing].
