LONG STORY SHORT

I LAUNCHED Marion Friedmann Gallery/London in 2011 WITH THE INTENTION of CELEBRATing the avant-garde and promoting the most remarkable contemporary designers, with An eagle eye on THE OVERLOOKED TERRITORIES MEXICO and THE wider LATIN AMERICA.

WE love to find and tell the stories behind things and people.
OUR works are comfortably positioned on the intersection of design, art, craft and architecture.

POSITIVE IMPACT and PLANET CARING

To launch the gallery in 2011, we DId a show titled `Enlightened Waste ́ with one mexican and one austrian designer, surprising the visitors with lights made out of pure waste. this also marked the gallery’s trajectory for a ECOLOGICALLY CONSIDERATE and social approach to HIGH END design. I am keen to feature projects on the highest level that have a positive impact on our planet and its people, support marginalised communities, and make us think.

WHY MEXICO (& wider LATIN AMERICA)?

I was very lucky TO EXPERIENCE MEXICO on AN INCREDIBLE SOLE ROADTRIP FOR six months in 2004. I DROVE THROUGH THE WHOLE COUNTRY IN An epic EIGHTies OLdsmobile CUSTOMCRUISER STATION WAGON that I HAD BOUGHT IN SAN FRANCISCO. From the time I CROSSED THE BORDER into MExico IN TIJUANA, I have been HOOKEd on THIS COUNTRY and what it has to offer.

This life-changing experience led me to do many more extensive
research trips to this fascinating territory, with THE clear
intention TO systematically investigate the design world
THERE. It has been a rewarding journey to DIVE
DEEP AND LEARN about Méxican and LatIN AMERICAN creativity,
art, craft, tradition and history.

A POWERHOUSE AND A VOID

I found an AWE-INspiring creative powerhouse and strongly felt that THE world does not YET know enough about the wealth of design history and the contemporary talents this continent has to offer. a void waiting to be filled. Feeling that, I decided to make the promotion and representation of designers from this part of the world
one of my main missions.

WE are a platform

The gallery, true to its mission, serves as a platform of exchange between the continents and has been at the forefront of discovering talent from Mexico and nourishing cross-cultural exchange and knowledge transfer since its inception in 2011.
