The 'Sphere 32' from the series 'CUMULOS' is a geometric sculpture piece. It was inspired by Buckminster Fuller’s Synergetics, one of the foundational texts in contemporary geometrical studies in which Fuller reflects on the modular possibilities of the cuboctahedron (in geometry, a polyhedron with eight triangular faces and six square faces).
In CUMULOS, artist Pedro Cerisola discovers new approaches to a modular assembly for this singular form, extending its possibilities and enabling the construction of spectacular, yet delicate, structures that, like clusters of clouds, seem to float above the Earth. The hard and fragile ceramic, as well as the white glazing of each piece, allows CUMULOS to interact with the lighting of its surroundings.
